Newslash August – Summer Days Out – Something Different

Hi,

As the title of this post suggests, a day trip with a difference is on offer and not far away too. Anyone who has travelled to Portsmouth may be aware of the distinctive green liveried Gosport ferry, that sails from Portsmouth Harbour rail station.

This ferry company also runs day trips to various locations in and around The Solent. The average price is roughly £16 to £18, apart from the Cowes fireworks spectacular, in which supper and entertainment are included.

There is a more up market option from Portsmouth available in September. The ‘Waverley’ paddle-steamer sails from various south coast locations between Weymouth and Portsmouth. There are also departures from London & the Thames Estuary, Bristol, Scotland and Liverpool/Merseyside, usually between Easter and October. This ship is the last sea going paddle-steamer in the World.

GALLERY-3

The website gallery has an understandable Scottish bias as this is where the ‘Waverley’ is based a lot of the time.
