The National Gardens Scheme

A quick mention for the National Gardens Scheme. This is a nationwide event for private and public gardens, that can be visited all year round. An entrance fee is charged, which goes to charity. There are booklets available from larger libraries, maybe small ones too, but I can’t confirm that. They are produced for each County, the Surrey edition is below.

These booklets have a calendar of open days, admission prices and directions to individual properties.

And Hampshire:

Last year these charities received £2.5M from this wonderful scheme:

Macmillan cancer support – £500,000

Marie curie cancer care – £500,000

Hospice UK – £450,000

Carers trust – £350,000

Queens nursing institute – £200,000

NT gardening careerships – £120,000

Parkinson’s UK – £150,000

Perennial – £147,000

RHS – £75,000

Garden museum – £8,000
